robzsky That was the perfect thing to wake to this morning. And so fresh! That’s what is amazing about Bandcamp.

How does the Looperlative plug-in stand up to the hardware version?

You certainly found your olive branch today.

Steve Yates There’s a difference between familiar and formulaic and although the sounds and textures here are familiar, it’s anything but formulaic. Steve has an incredible sense of melody, harmony and layering that creates the most awesome musical adventures. This latest piece is beautifully crafted, and deserves multiple listening to fully appreciate the many unfolding themes. 5 stars - would recommend. :-)

Steev Just a fantastic trip to somewhere else. No work, no stress, just somewhere else that brings a sense of awesomeness. I think I need to start at the beginning of the catalog and listen to everything.

peterzabriskie/DeepFrequency Steve is exhibiting a harmonic note playing technique I have been working on during the Covid -Lockdown. He executes it beautifully.

Archimedes Woo Fortunately, listening to this track didn't put me in mind of the pandemic or of mountains of animal turds on a boat. It did, however, sound rather peaceful, and peace is definitely something we all need right now.

about

So, this is the first time I've played my music (as in: making art up as I go along, not just demonstrating stuff for my students!) for an audience in over two years. I recorded this as part of a discussion and seminar about improvisation this morning at BIMM Birmingham - which is where I teach normally anyway, but today I was the visiting guest not the class teacher!

Much of this will be familiar territory to those who've listened to a lot of my stuff. The setting and the massive time off meant the first thing I got to play was unlikely to be all that wild, but I'm happy with how this sounds, and there are a few things in here that are dependent on the new Looperlative plugin within the MOD DuoX, so that's also a lovely thing.

The title is a biblical reference to what Noah saw after the flood in the Genesis account - his first clue that the flood was subsiding was a dove carrying an olive branch, indicating that maybe things were about to get better and everyone was going to feel a little less trapped with all the mountains of animal turds on the boat... So, obvious parallels with the pandemic, if you can forgive a reference so ostentatious 😉

Enjoy, and here's to many more occasions such as this x
