about

This was recorded at Servant Jazz Quarters on April 18th, 2019 - I was headlining a gorgeous bass-centric night that featured the fabulous bass/drums duo Minus Pilots and double bass genius Tom Herbert. It was my first gig using Ableton Live as the instrument host for all the non-bass noises, which brought some fresh new stuff to the show, and some kinks that I've been ironing out since!

However, the kinks in Ableton pale against the idiocy of having left my phone in my pocket, thus causing loads of interference to be picked up by my bass... thankfully modern recording tools are pretty magical and I've been able to fix the audio and make a lovely document of the show - a pretty good representation of where I'm up to right now.

This was, surprisingly, my first proper gig of 2019 (I did some playing at NAMM, but that was on a booth with 100dB of bullshit in the background) - but the feeling that the time I've spent working on other aspects of the music has been worth it is woven through this recording. At least, it is to my ears. I hope you enjoy it!
