about

Ceasefire. It's not a difficult concept. It's been my response to every military action this country has been part of - as instigator, cheerleader or supplier - in my entire lifetime. I've marched against killing people since not long after I learned how to walk.

No different now. Cease all the fires. Just stop killing people.

Here's the soundtrack to the dis-ease of watching it all go down. Again. The cognitive fuckery of listening to people justify over and over again slaughtering people. The utter confusion caused by any human with an allegiance to anything but peace and the truth. No nations, no flags, no faiths, no tribes. Just peace.

Not interested in gotcha statements, nor assumptions of bad faith amongst people scandalised by the human cost of war. Just supporting the consistent request to stop killing people.

As a warning, this is music utterly devoid of melody and groove. It's 'ambient' in the sense that it's entirely textural, but it's deeply emotional, quite bleak and might make you very sad. So approach with caution if that stuff isn't where your head is at right now.

Track 2 is a little more melodically driven, but more of an exploration of the muddy, murky, clumsy stumbling towards peace. It takes courage and conviction, but also compromise and a ton of realism. South Africa, Northern Ireland, Bosnia. No peace is easy, no transition out of war or end to an invasion/occupation is without pain and anger and loss. But it's vital that we get there as soon as possible.

Power to the peaceful. x
