Improvisation is like a conversation between artists. Sometimes that conversation is time-bound, and the topic of conversation can be resolved fairly quickly. Other times it is more relaxed - the kind of rambling, sprawling discussions that often seem to happen over a meal. The earlier compilations have focussed on the shorter "conversations". This curated set of tracks features those where there is time to explore topics more fully, where something that is said spawns a whole new line of conversation. In my experience of spending time in conversation with Steve, it pays to set aside time since the conversation can and often does veer off in many directions...

As with all Steve’s music, these tracks span a wide range of musical styles, sometimes within the single track. Like having friends over for a meal, I suggest you set aside some time to relax into these sounds either as a whole album, or even just individually. Give up some time to enjoy the experience in its fullness…
