Miracle/Inevitable is from the London Bass Guitar Show 2015, where I was joined by one of my favourite bassists in the world, Ruth Goller - I'd been wanting to play with Ruth for ages. As you'll hear, she brings a completely different kind of energy to our improv, which pulled me in new directions. Looking forward to playing more soon! There's a bit at the end of the tune where it sounds like it's going to explode... our basses massively overloaded the input on the recording, and I thought about filtering it out, but that brokenness actually works quite well :)

Chloe's Tune

This was recorded on my Nov 2013 tour with Yolanda Charles - I started each solo set with an improvisation, and at The Islington I dedicated it at the end to my friend Chloë who was there that night. Hence 'Chloe's Tune'.
So it's a live solo recording with no edits or overdubs...

Curiosity is from the week after the london show, at the Moffat Bass Bash - it was my opening improvisation, and is the first public outing for a fun thing I'm experimenting with that's sort of improvised counterpoint - trying to get two lines overlapping in interesting ways... More of this coming v. soon :)

Curious (Still)

The opening segment from my concert in Poole, Dorset, on 25th June, 2015.
It starts in a similar place to the piece that became 'Curiosity' on the Explore EP that came out on here a while ago, hence the name. It's still an exploration of how a collection of disparate musical ideas can flow together and be superimposed into a more complex whole.
My solo set in Poole was followed by a group improv set with some amazing musicians - hopefully I'll get to share some of the recording of that with you too!
Til then, enjoy this... :)
